FOOTBALL legends revealed the good, the bad and the ugly of the halcyon European Cup winning years of Liverpool FC to a packed house.

European Cup winners Terry McDermott, Alan Kennedy and Jimmy Case had the audience in stitches as they regaled tales from the glory days in Worcester yesterday evening.

The three ex-footballers took to the stage at Worcestershire County Cricket Club as part of the Eurowinners tour.

Organiser Nick Tanner, himself, a former Liverpool player said the legendary trio enjoyed their night, where they signed memorabilia for fans before taking to the stage for a chat and questions.

He said: "It was a fantastic night.

"Worcester gave the legends a great reception and the lads thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

"The audience asked some really good questions to keep the lads on their toes.

"We had a great night and I hope to bring some legends back to Worcester in the future."

Highlights of the night included McDermott revealing his pre-match meal when staying at Alan Kennedy's mother's as a Newcastle player was soup, followed by a full roast and apple pie ... only three hours before kick off.

Case told how an early rejection as a youngster made him determined to complete his electrician apprenticeship even after signing for Liverpool.

The hardman then went on to more familiar territory describing a late night hotel bust up with Ray Kennedy.

And Alan Kennedy brought the house down when he regaled how he didn't realise manger Joe Fagan had asked him to take a penalty in the shoot out of the 1984 European Cup Final versus Roma.

He went on to score the winning kick.

The night was held in conjunction with the Brewers Arms pub in St John's which hit the headlines last year after customer Paul Grange was thrown out and banned for wearing a T-shirt which slurred Hillsborough victims.

A raffle and auction was also held for the city's St Richard's Hospice, which raised more than £1,000.
