WARRIORS stars took a break from rugby as they visited homeless hounds.

They visited Dogs Trust Evesham to learn more about the dogs in their care as well as the work that the trust does.

The players had the chance to meet some of the residents at the rehoming centre including Jack, a one-year-old deaf Jack Russell Terrier who is hoping that his special someone will come forward soon.

Scrum half, Jonny Arr, said: "A lot of the players are huge dog lovers and many of us own dogs ourselves.

"This was my first visit to Dogs Trust Evesham and I was extremely impressed with both the state-of-the-art facilities and the work that goes on to make sure the dogs are happy and cared for whilst they wait to be adopted.

"It’s wonderful to see the dogs so content, relaxed and loved and I’m sure they’ll all find their forever homes soon. "There are so many different dogs, all looking for different things from a new home, so I’d encourage local people who are considering getting a dog, to pop along to the centre to find the perfect pooch for you."

After the visit, Chris Slight, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Evesham said: "It was fantastic to welcome some of the dog loving rugby players to our new centre, they were a huge hit with all of the dogs, who were more than happy to have a run around in the paddocks.

“It was a great opportunity to show the players first-hand the work we do for dogs in the local community.

"There are exciting times ahead for Dogs Trust Evesham and we look forward to seeing them at the centre again soon.”

Dogs Trust Evesham rehomes around 800 dogs each year, anyone interested in rehoming a dog, call 0300 303 0292.
