A SPRING raffle helped a professional Kidderminster orchestra raise hundreds of pounds towards its comeback concert later in the year.

The Kidderminster Festival Orchestra (TKFO) held the raffle which offered prizes from businesses including TH Bakers, Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Frankie & Benny’s, DW Fitness, Thornton's, CMS Motors and West Midlands Safari Park.

As a result, £400 was raised for the orchestra which will be used to buy music for its big winter show.

TKFO is re-establishing itself following the disappointment of a loss of funding last year and will hold its inaugural concert on November 4.

Artistic director and principal conductor Annette Jackson, who founded TKFO, said: “The Friends of The Kidderminster Festival Orchestra would like to thank all those who supported us by buying raffle tickets or donating prizes.

“The sum raised was £400 which will cover the cost most of the music for the concert on November 4.”

She added a summer raffle will also be held later in the year.

A new website promoting the orchestra has been launched and continues to be developed daily. People can access it by visiting www.tkfo.co.uk

After originally establishing in 2015 and setting up as a charitable company the following year, TKFO was hit with a setback when the Arts Council of Great Britain said it would not be able to provide funding for the project.
