ELEVEN gardens will be open in a Golden Valley village during a June weekend.
Dorstone Open Gardens takes place on June 10 and 11 from 12pm to 5pm to raise money for St Michael’s Hospice and Friends of St Faith’s.
St Faith’s Church and the memorial garden will also be open.
Among those taking part is 94-year-old Ernest Morgan, who is opening his Dorstone garden for the first time.
Mr Morgan is proud of his patch of land, which was carved out of a field and lovingly tended to by his late wife, June.
Ernest said: "June died two years ago. She loved the garden. It was her life. She was a real perfectionist."
Other gardens can be explored in the centre of the village with a wide variety of features - wildflower meadows, a Japanese-style gravel garden, a pagoda, topiary with yew and box hedging, even a well-established vineyard. There are also gardens outside the village.
No advance ticket sales. Tickets are adults £8, children under 12 go free. Tickets valid for both days.
Full details of all gardens can be seen on www.st-michaels-hospice.org.uk/event/dorstone-open-gardens
