A PAT of flamingos that flocked to a pub near Worcester will be sold to raise cash for the Leukaemia Care charity.

The Mug House, in Claines, has seen 16 pink birds recently land outside the pub.

The stunt has been arranged to honour the death of local 13-year-old James O'Mara who recently died of leukaemia.

Pub owner Judy Allen, who wanted to raise awareness as well as cash, has left a note for visitors to make a donation if the birds made them 'smile' and has also received offers to buy them once the initial interest has died down.

"We wanted to chose a Leukaemia charity in memory of James," she said.

"I think it will raise quite a bit of money," she added.

Initially, the craze around Worcester, started at White Ladies Aston when more than 200 birds arrived overnight on Saturday, June 17 and perched on verges, outside the church, the parish room and The Old Vicarage.

The strange spectacle, dubbed Flamingo Bombing, is believed to have originated in America and sees a person plant several pink plastic flamingos in a garden to see their neighbour's reaction.
