A SPRIGHTLY great-grandmother from Redditch celebrated her 103rd birthday on Wednesday, owing the secret to her longevity to ‘enjoying work and never worrying’.
Iris Fraser, who was born in Astwood Bank on June 28, 1914, celebrated with family and friends at Four Acres care home on Archer Close, Studley, where she resides.
Great-grandson Josh joined the celebrations as Iris’ friends and care home staff held a party with a selection of sandwiches and cakes.
Care team manager Kayleigh Aston said: “Iris is always telling us that she has had a wonderful life.
“Her advice is ‘you must always enjoy your work and never worry, worrying is the worst.’
“She is always taking part in activities at the home, is very sociable and full of advice and smiles. She is very happy and hoping to get another letter from the Queen.”
Iris, who is a fan of bingo and knits daily, previously worked in Redditch at the Sandle Shoe Company, before taking on roles as a barmaid at The Bell and Green Dragon pubs in Studley.
She has been married twice and has a daughter called Barbara, along with three grandchildren named Paul, Jennie and Wendy.
