TWO Kidderminster businesswomen are hoping to change the lives of 10 women in the area with the launch of a new self-help group.

Kate Spohrer and Peni Brudenell-Pryke are launching a pilot group to take place once a month for 10 months in a hope to see positive changes in the lives of the participants.

A launch event is due to take place on Monday (September 25).

Group facilitator Kate said: "Over the last 20 years, I have observed many group methods and now use an approach that uses the best aspects of different methods resulting in a fascinating way of facilitating self-help groups.

"Ideally, we have 10 people together who have something in common - they may all work for the same company, be in the same professional group, be a group of all men or all women, or of a similar age.

"The method adapts to any group. For this pilot group, we are looking at women aged over 45."

She added: "People who attend these groups regularly can derive a massive benefit. The process flows from discussing the issues of the last month.

"The issue presented is discussed by the group while the presenter remains quiet and listens to the group conversation, only joining the conversation at the end to reflect on any reactions and learnings.

"The group is a great way to explore ways to change and give people the confidence to make the change they need to make.

"The group runs for one evening a month for ten months - by the end of that time the group should have made a positive difference in the lives of all 10 participants."
