A DEDICATED Kidderminster fundraiser has seen his collection of war poems published as a book.

World War One In Verse brings together a number of poems that Eric Harvey during the past two years and has been released in paperback form and on Kindle through Amazon.

Mr Harvey hadn’t originally planned on putting the collection together but was convinced to do so by people who read some of them on social media.

Chapter one of the book deals with soldiers leaving home, then throughout the conflict and finally on those who returned from war.

The second chapter is concerned with the aftermath of the devastating war while also focusing on some of the special people such as Edith Cavell.

Mr Harvey said: “This is a collection of World War One poems I have written over the past two years, I have written these poems in traditional rhyming verse to create a more understanding and what I hope will be enjoyable read.

“It covers all aspects of the war - leaving home, the trenches, friendship and death, and coming home for the survivors.

“I have posted some of these on Facebook sites and received thousands of excellent comments, it is after a lot of coaxing from many people that I have now decided to publish them on this site.”

Mr Harvey set up Vickie’s Wish in memory of his daughter who sadly died of Leukaemia in 2013 aged just 24. The campaign has helped raise thousands for a number of local charities.

Both the paperback and Kindle version of the book are available via Amazon at www.amazon.co.uk/World-War-One-Verse-Author/dp/1980465746
