CCTV has captured a man stealing wheelie bins from outside a Worcester house, with the homeowner describing the thefts as “mindless and comical”.

Mark Watson was astonished to discover the bins had disappeared from the driveway of his home in Suffolk Drive, Blackpole – and after checking his CCTV he found that the entire theft had been caught on his cameras.

In the bizarre footage, the thief is shown at first moving the Worcester City Council grey bins into an easier position to wheel out, and is undeterred despite the security lights coming on, at 1.54am yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

After first moving the grey bin out, the thief – who appears to be in his 20s – returns to steal the green bin, dragging both of them off the driveway.

The entire theft took just 30 seconds, the CCTV shows.

Mr Watson said he was shocked that the theft happened as his cameras are clear to see on the side of his property.

He has posted the footage on Youtube and offered a £10 reward for anyone who provides information that finds the thief.

“He is so blatant," Mr Watson said of the thief.

"Our area is becoming a nuisance area where people are running around wild,” he added.

“I was shocked when I saw the CCTV. It is comical but it is a hassle to sort out.

"The council are going to replace the bins and I reported the thefts to the police.

“He apparently dumped the rubbish nearby, but the bins are gone.

“We have never had our bins stolen before.”

Mr Watson added: “We were burgled a year ago. That time they did a smash and grab, stealing a computer by the window.

A Worcester City Council spokesman said that each bin is worth £15.20.

West Mercia Police has issued an appeal for information on the man, who is wearing a tracksuit, baseball cap and white trainers.

On the grey bin that was stolen was a Vespa badge, while on the other there was a chrome badge of Britain.
