A REPEAT offender has been jailed for 10 months after a host of driving-related crimes.
Alfred Smith, of Archer Close, Malvern, was sentenced to 40 weeks in prison for driving whilst disqualified and without insurance or a valid MOT.
Smith, aged 39, ran away from officers when they spotted him behind the wheel of a vehicle in Malvern.
He was in breach of a two-year suspended sentence, dating back to October 2016, for a range of driving offences.
PC Steve Tandy, of Malvern Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If drivers continue to drive whilst disqualified and put other road users at risk through their own actions then police will be targeting them and taking positive action.”
Police have seized the vehicle Smith illegally drove on June 22.
He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115, court costs of £135 and received a further disqualification from holding a driving licence for five years at Worcestershire Magistrates Court on July 5.
