SUPPORT for the fight against cancer continued in Worcester on Sunday when the main Race for Life event took place.
Pitchcroft was a sea of pink t-shirts for the second day running as participants gathered to take part in the 5km run.
Runners performed zumba routines to limber up before starting the race.
Among them were Heather Kelly and Sandy Thomas, both teachers at Northleigh Primary School in Malvern.
Heather said: “Some friends at school have had cancer, and my father had it as well, so like a lot of people, I’m doing this because my life has been affected by cancer.
“It’s my first time taking part and at the age of 56, I’m just glad I managed to make it round.”
Sandy said: “We really enjoyed being part of it. It’s a really great event.”
Jane Randall, who also travelled from Malvern to take part in the race, said: “This is the second time for me.
“I did it a few years ago and I thought it was time have another go
“There’s always a really great atmosphere here and It’s really good to be with so many people raising money for a good cause.”
Although it is named Race for Life, there is no competitive element, and participants are not timed on their run.
