NORTHLEIGH CE Primary School in Malvern has achieved a double-whammy of successes this month.

The school has been rated good in its latest Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) report.

And last week it was named Sports School of the Year at the Malvern Hills District Community Sports Awards.

Stuart Busby, the school's acting head since September last year, said: “I am pleased that the improvements that were identified by Ofsted in November have become embedded and allowed us to continue to develop the whole child of Northleigh.

"I am very proud of all the children here and I know the schools will build on these strengths next year.”

Whilst primarily focusing on the school's Christian distinctiveness, the SIAMS inspection recognised the school's significant improvements in all areas during this academic year.

The report said: "The school has a clear vision which is coupled with well-selected Christian values and a set of distinct learning values. As a result, children display positive attitudes towards all members of the school community and the wider world. The senior leaders' Christian vision for the school is clear [and] the school’s Christian values...are already having a significant impact on the whole community."

In the sports awards, the school was praised for its "open and inclusive approach to sports provision, which ensures that a significant number of pupils have regularly represented their school."

Northleigh is currently West Worcestershire champion in football, netball and tag rugby.
