A MIDWIFE from Bromsgrove has decorated a garden at the hospital where she works to give bereaved families a place to remember their babies.

Holly Hawkesford spent a day with family and friends on July 16 potting plants, painting benches and setting up a water feature at Warwick Hospital, ready for the instalment of a memorial 'rainbow tree'.

The steel tree, which was sculpted by local artist Steve Webb, was donated by Jasper's Rainbow, a group set up in memory of Holly's son, who died just a few hours after he was born in 2014.

Holly said: "I am delighted to have this beautiful tree at Warwick Hospital. I hope that it will be a special and peaceful place where families can visit for years to come."

The sculpture is overlooked by the hospital's maternity unit and bereavement room.

It will be decorated with leaves made from hand-crafted glass, made by Stuart Fletcher of Topglass, and can be engraved with a baby's name, date of birth and a special message.

They can be purchased for a small fee to cover manufacturing costs.
