EVERY cloud has a silver lining, as the old saying goes, and the positive to come out of the negative of an idiot knocking over one of the giraffe sculptures has been seeing the reaction from local residents and just how much our city loves the Worcester Stands Tall art trail.

One woman chased after the culprit after he toppled the giraffe to explain the significance of the sculpture and insist that he return to the scene, which he apparently did.

Then, on social media, scores of people have spoken out against the idiocy of what the man did to the giraffe.

This is not just because the giraffes are so eye-catching, it's because the art trail is raising money for St Richard's Hospice, an institution beloved by the people of Worcester – many of whom have had a relative or friend benefit from the care of the fantastic charity.

Less than two weeks since the trail began, it's sad that already two of the giraffes have been damaged – but encouraging to see that the project has so quickly been taken to heart by the people of Worcester. Get well soon Gregory the giraffe!
