A CRITICAL care nurse from Bromsgrove is confident he can complete 10 marathons in 10 days - bringing his total number of marathons completed up to 151.
Patrick Norris, who started running just eight years ago as a new year's resolution, will take on the daunting '10 in 10' challenge in aid of the Brathay Trust next May.
The 51-year-old is one of just 15 runners to be accepted onto the fundraiser, thanks to his extensive running experience, which features 141 marathons and 50 half marathons.
Patrick said: "I started running following an ill-conceived new years' resolution to run a half marathon which I duly did.
"To date I have run 141 marathons and joined the 100 Marathon Club in February 2017.
"Running has given me so much I now feel that the time is right to give something back by supporting the wonderful work of the Brathay Trust."
The challenge will see Patrick run a 26.2-mile anti-clockwise circuit of Windermere 10 times over the 10-day period.
"I am under no illusion that this is going to be seriously hard," said Patrick, who works at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham. "I'm expecting there will tears, laughter, gnashing of teeth and a lot of blisters.
"Combined with the training and fundraising this is an epic and truly rewarding challenge and I feel honoured to have been given this opportunity."
Patrick aims to raise £3,000 for the Brathay Trust, which supports young people to improve their life chances, and has donated £1,000 of his own money to the cause.
