A MAN was reportedly punched and knocked unconscious in a city centre street after he had watched a boxing match.

At around 6.05am on Commercial Road in Hereford on August 27, shortly after the McGregor vs Mayweather boxing match finished, a group of men approached a man in his 20s.

As he walked in the direction of Aylestone Hill, near to the bus shelter next to the pathway to Morrisons supermarket, the victim is believed to have been verbally abused and then punched in the face by one of the men, knocking him to the ground and rendering him momentarily unconscious.

PC Julie Watson said: "As a result of this unprovoked attack, the victim was taken to Hereford hospital with injuries to his face necessitating several areas of stitches. He also suffered from fractured teeth.

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anybody with information to contact us.

"We would particularly like to speak with the men pictured in the images released, as we believe they may have been in the area at the time and could have important information about the incident."
