A NEW play area at Ashperton Primary has made the morning and afternoon school run so much safer, according to head teacher, Chris Bandfield.

He said: "Our Multi Use Gaming Surface (MUGA) was completed in October and has had a very significant and positive impact. Not only does this facility provide us with wonderful new opportunities for sports and PE and Play, but it has also made our school community safer."

Mr Bandfield explained: "Because our children play on the MUGA before school starts, our playground is free for parking in the morning. This has made our morning drop off safer and our pick up time safer, we no longer get the frightening tail backs along the main road that we all worry about.

"Already, it is used intensively for playtime, PE, after school clubs, cluster tournaments and school matches. We have already attracted a wonderful hockey coach to run a club on Friday after school due to the quality of the surface."
