THE housing association which owns a Leominster flat where a man died following a fire has paid tribute to him.

Two people escaped the blaze at a flat on Waterworks Lane but one man was sadly found dead at the scene.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently ongoing.

Stonewater Housing, which owns the flat, paid tribute to the man, who they named as 'Mr Miley'.

Sue Lees, Director, Housing West, said: "We are extremely saddened to hear of Mr Miley’s death in such tragic circumstances.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. While no other Stonewater properties have been affected by the fire, we are liaising with neighbours to offer support if needed.”

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has urgently appealed for homeowners to fit working smoke alarms and test them every week.
