THOUSANDS of miles from home, two Hereford-trained dancers have organised workshops at a charity ballet school in West Africa.

Brothers Peter and Eddie Bindloss took with them ballet shoes and dance wear donated by friends at Insteps Dance Academy in Ludlow and Hereford Sixth Form College where 16-year-old Eddie studies drama and musical theatre.

Peter, aged 22, was a student at Hereford Sixth Form and graduated from Arts Educational School in Chiswick in musical theatre last year. He will be joining the first UK tour of the hit show, Matilda, in March.

Last month the brothers spent a week at the Gambia Ballet Factory, which is the brainchild of Linda Wenzel who devotes her life to providing dance lessons as cheaply as she can and giving free workshops in local schools.

The ballet school is desperate for a barre, a stationary handrail essential for ballet, and the brothers and their family are keenly hoping someone might be able to donate one so that it could be shipped to the Gambia.

The supermarket, Harry Tuffins has kindly donated notebooks and pencils for students at the ballet school.
