A CLOSED county pub which featured on national television could soon be converted into houses.

The King’s Head in Docklow, near Leominster, featured on BBC 2’s The Great Interior Design Challenge and had been for sale since 2014.

But despite many viewings and the asking price dropping from £325,000 to £295,000 no formal offers were made for the 18th Century inn.

The pub owners are now hoping to convert it into two three-bedroom houses and build a pair of three-bedroom semi-detached houses on the east of the site.

Applicants Tony and Paula Holland submitted the plans last week and Herefordshire Council expected to make a decision on the proposals by May 29.

Ben Holland, who supports the scheme, said: “I’m in favour of the change, this small pub cannot compete with the big establishment down the road.

“It would be nice to see the village grow offering more homes. Making positive use of unused land.”
