A TEENAGE boy in Longbridge suffered ‘nasty’ injuries after his mini motorbike was involved in a smash with a car late on Sunday night.

An ambulance, paramedic area support officer and a MERIT trauma doctor, were all called to the scene on Tessall Lane in Longbridge just after 11pm on Sunday, June 5.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman, said: “The teenage boy had been involved in a significant collision with a car; the windscreen was smashed.

“Upon assessment by ambulance staff, the boy was found with nasty leg injuries as well as gravel rash to his arms, shoulder and back.”

The boy’s wounds were treated, and he was given pain relief, before being immobilised and taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further treatment. The driver of the car was unharmed.

The spokeswoman also warned people riding mini motorbikes, about how little protection they offer, adding: “Whilst it was reassuring that that boy was protected with a helmet, his other injuries could’ve been minimised if he’d been wearing suitable protective clothing such as leathers or kevlar, boots and gloves.”
