YOUNGSTERS at a Kidderminster nursery celebrated Shrove Tuesday today (February 13) with lots of pancake related fun.

Children at Little Trinity Nursery enjoyed stacks of scrumptious treats, fruit and pancake games during the day.

Nursery Manager, Miss Gaynor Carter, said: “We love pancake day, with lots of warm pancakes and toppings, as well as a range of fruit alternatives for those children not keen on this traditional food eating activity.”

Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional day of feasting before Ash Wednesday, and the 40 days of Lent leading up to Easter.

Shrove Tuesday enables Christians and those observing the Lent practice, to use up their surplus eggs and fats before embarking upon the traditional Lenten fast, with pancakes offering the perfect way of utilising these ingredients.

Miss Carter added: “Creative helps to encourage a child’s motor and skill development, with this yummy activity involving even our youngest children from 2 years of age and up.

“All our children, and staff, thoroughly enjoyed this Shrove Tuesday pancake activity.”
