TENBURY is set to lose its representation on the fire authority.

Ken Pollock, who represents Tenbury of Worcestershire County Council, has been on the Hereford and Worcester Fire Authority but it is set to be abolished

“For the last year, I have been privileged to serve on the Fire and Rescue Authority, but it seems that the board will soon no longer exist,” he said.

“The Home Office are keen to see an effective amalgamation of the fire and police services, meaning that our Police and Crime Commissioner would take overall control of the Fire Service.

“There has been a proper system of consultation on this and while the local services in Herefordshire and Worcestershire and Shropshire and the Wrekin decided against the merger, the Home Office has indicated its approval.”

He added that a recent meeting of the Authority had been expected to be the last.

But it was decided to request a Judicial Review, in line with the equivalent organisations in Cambridge and Shropshire.

“The latest annual review of the Fire and Rescue Service was very favourable and the Tenbury station had performed very well,” added Ken Pollock.
