A LONG-serving Worcester Warriors star is welcoming people to dine with him inside one of the city’s most iconic buildings.

A special end-of-season dinner will be held in Worcester Cathedral on Friday, May 11 in a bid to celebrate the career of scrum-half Jonny Arr and raise money for two worthwhile causes.

Arr, from Worcester, has made more than 200 appearances for his boyhood club since making his debut in 2007.

To mark his 10th year at Warriors Arr was awarded a testimonial season which has seen him stage a number of fund-raising events for Restart Rugby and Warriors Community Foundation.

And the 29-year-old felt there was “no better place” in the city to have a three-course meal than in the nave at Worcester Cathedral.

“We sat down a few months ago and explored the possibility of hosting a dinner in the cathedral itself “, Arr said.

“We had a few discussions and the cathedral was very kind to offer us a date so it went from there.

“It is an incredible honour.

“We are really lucky to have been given the opportunity to do it in what is an important building not only in the city but in the world.”

Ex-England prop David Flatman is set to entertain guests at the black tie event while Ed Jackson who suffered a career-ending neck injury last year will also give an inspirational talk.

“Ed had a tragic accident a year ago and Restart Rugby were there to help him through his rehabilitation,” Arr said.

“Twelve months later after being told he was unlikely to walk again he walked up Mount Snowdon.”

Arr added: “The cathedral can hold up to 400 people so there is quite a lot of room in there.

“We would be over the moon to get that number of people but I don’t think we would push it that far. If we were to get over a couple of hundred that would be fantastic.”

The evening costs £100 per person.
