Nifty Fifty Club

The spring programme at the club has proven to be very successful and well supported.

The March meeting was a talk from Trading Standards, concentrating on how to spot and deal with bogus tradesmen.

Many of those present were able to recount their experiences of unsolicited callers and everyone went away from the meeting better equipped to deal with these unwanted visitors to our homes.

The April meeting was an illustrated talk about Dudley Zoo by their education officer, Caroline Parsons, who gave us a very informative insight into all of the activities that the zoo is involved in, especially the very important conservation projects that are so vital.

In May the club had its annual coach trip – this year going to Liverpool.

Due to the great demand for seats a double-decker coach was arranged for us by excellent local tour operator Mark Smith.

As in previous years Mark arranged for a guide to join us on the coach in Liverpool and to take us around the city – the tour included stops to visit both cathedrals and a chance to explore the Albert Docks.

The May meeting was a talk ‘City hopping around Europe’, which as the name suggests took us on an illustrated journey around Europe, sharing well known and not so well known facts and figures about the various cities. It was very well attended and enjoyed by all.

Preparations are well advanced for the club dinner in July, which marks the end of the meetings for this season.

A varied programme of speakers and events is being put together for the new season which starts in September.

The meetings take place at Rowley Regis Handicapped Centre, Birmingham Road, Rowley Regis (next to Tesco One Stop), we open the doors at 7.00pm, for a 7.30pm start.

We guarantee new members a very warm welcome.
