A GROWING Cleobury Mortimer company which has created new jobs has been visited by the town’s MP.

Conservative Philip Dunne called at renewable energy installer EZ Solar’s expanded new premises in Cleobury the week the Government published its Energy Bill.

The firm has invested £50,000 in a new solar-powered building on New House Farm industrial estate at Cleobury as its growing business added four more jobs, to take its staff to 14.

Mr Dunne said: “EZ Solar are rightly proud of their success in providing solar and renewable heat installations in Shropshire and across the West Midlands.

“I was pleased to see their modern, energy-efficient premises and discuss growing demand for renewable energy solutions among domestic and commercial customers.

“The renewable energy industry is making an increasingly important contribution to the UK’s economic recovery.

“This is set for significant growth as a result of this Government’s measures proposed in [the] Energy Bill to encourage the major investment required to replace energy generation capacity.”

He added: “The plans seek to add on a larger scale to the measures already taken to promote renewable energy through feed-in tariffs, renewable obligation certificates and the renewable heat incentive and improve energy efficiency through the Green Deal.”

The Energy Bill was introduced to Parliament, setting out a programme of reforms to the energy market to be in place by 2014.

The measures aim to attract £110 billion investment to replace current generating capacity with low-carbon forms of generation, including replacing the ageing nuclear energy-generating fleet and to cope with a rising demand for electricity.
