Machine that will help college’s blind students

A COLLEGE in Worcester is celebrating after an opticians in the city centre raised enough money to buy a piece of equipment that will help blind and partially sighted students with their studies.

Staff at Specsavers dressed up in 1960s and 70s outfits to raise £545 to buy a Zy-Fuse heater for New College Worcester in Whittington Road.

The heater will be used to raise diagrams and lines for students aged between 11 and 19 studying subjects such as mathematics, science and geography.

The college’s fund-raising manager Anne Priestley thanked everybody who donated money and said the outfits the Specsavers staff wore at the shop in Broad Street on Saturday, July 26 were incredible.

“Their passion for fund-raising is amazing and we are very grateful and the students will be very grateful,” she said.
