Bag pack boosts shelter fund in memory of Stourport's Amy

A BAG pack has raised more than £781 towards a children’s shelter in memory of a popular Stourport 15-year-old who died on Christmas Eve.

Amy Carter, a pupil of Stourport High School and VIth Form Centre, died after suffering a series of cardiac arrests just weeks before her 16th birthday.

More than £1,400 has so far been raised to help fund the children’s shelter to celebrate Amy’s love of outdoor activities, such as skateboarding. A total of about £5,000 is needed.

The bag pack at Midcounties Co-operative in Lombard Street, Stourport, was organised by Jenny Moule, a close friend of Amy’s mother, Jacqueline Carter.

Mrs Moule, 58, of Park Crescent, Stourport, a non-food manager for the Midcounties Co-operative in Oxford, was joined by her two grandsons, their friend and staff at the store.

She said: “I have known Jacqueline ever since she was a child and I thought it would be nice to give them a lift and help them raise this money.”

She added: “Amy was lovely. She was full of fun and enjoyed life to the full. It is so sad to see something like that happen to someone so young.”

More than 1,900 people have signed up as friends on Facebook’s page dedicated to Amy.

An inquest into her death has been opened and adjourned for a date to be fixed. Amy’s parents have been scathing about the medical treatment she received before she died.

A spokeswoman for NHS Worcestershire and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has said the organisations “are working closely with the coroner” to identify why Amy died after she was admitted to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
