TWO people have handed themselves into police after the Worcester News published pictures of a man and a woman wanted in connection with acts of vandalism at Worcester Racecourse.

Our shocking pictures captured the moment a woman dropped her shorts to seemingly urinate in a kitchen area of a marquee, which is a hospitality suite on race days and also acts as a function room for weddings.

The CCTV cameras captured the woman and a man inside the marquee on the day that tables were overturned, salt and pepper was thrown around, ketchup smeared on the drapes and fire extinguishers set off.

The trail of destruction followed a similar – seemingly unconnected – incident where a third man defecated on the marquee’s carpet, wiped himself on a tablecloth then broke a CCTV camera. That man is still wanted by police.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said a man and a woman, both in their 20s, voluntarily went to Worcester police station on Saturday – the day our pictures were published.

She said: “They were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. They have been bailed to come back to the station on October 11.”

The third man has not been identified and police are continuing their investigation.

The arrests were welcomed by Jenny Cheshire, commercial manager at Worcester Racecourse.

She said: “I said at the time it might be a prank but was it worth it? This shows it wasn’t worth it. They have been caught.

“I hope it will be a good example to anybody planning on doing a similar thing. You will be caught, we’ve got the cameras.”

The CCTV footage shows a man entered the marquee between 7am and 7.45am on Thursday, September 22, in the first incident.

The second incident, involving a man and a woman, was believed to have taken place at about 3.40am on Friday, September 23.

Anyone with information should call police on 0300 3333000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
