Tory party's true policies lie behind the slogans

James Morris's Conservative leaflet, 'Now for Change', is pushing the same false claim as his leader, David Cameron.

The Tories cannot present themselves as the party of change since New Labour and the Tories have become virtually indistinguishable,.

His focus on rising unemployment in Halesowen and Rowley Regis is made in the hope that our memories will not stretch back to the 1980s and early 1990s when the Tories were in power.

I can remember the recession of 1979-82 which had a devastating effect on the country and was particularly bad in the West Midlands.

The main parties appear to have believed that when the economy finally came out of the 1980s, our problems had been cured.

It is true that from 1992 to 2007 the economy was on a rising curve.

But there was an underlying weakness, the economy had become heavily dependent on banking, property and retailing.

It was about consumption, borrowing and debt, the clever banking wheezes were hiding a serious deficit on manufacturing trade.

Now, it has all fallen apart again because it wasn't built on very firm foundations.

And New Labour and the Tories don't appear to have any plan for real change.

They are simply hoping for a return to the pre-credit crunch times.

That's why James Morris's leaflet is false.

However much he identifies with local businesses, schools and youth centres, he remains a Tory candidate. It is his party’s policies that belie his slogans.

Hmm, condemning mainstream parties but offering no alternative. Beyond the big three its all single issue parties like the Greens or UKIP, or god forbid the facism of Respect and the BNP. Or do you have a better alternative?

I am astonished that as an important local source of news, Newsquest, the US owners of the Halesowen News, is risking its reputation by taking money from the racist BNP for its advertisements, both in print and prominently online. The BNP is not a normal party but is deeply undemocratic in nature and seeks to intimidate its opponents when challenged and scrutinised - just as the Nazi Brownshirts did in the '30s. This includes journalists who expose them for what they are. It is even more amazing that the BNP print advert carries a line from Newsquest saying "the views contained therein do not necessarily reflect the views of this newspaper". So they might?
This is not only deeply worrying but bizarre.
Newsquest, please tell us you will not damage your titles any further by accepting this tainted cash.

I read the article and comments & agree that new labour and conservatives are one of the same just under a different name and leader, both like to pull the wool over our eys and take what they can from the working folk of this once great country. As for UKIP being a single issue party is complete rubbish, if this is how any of you feel then take a look at www.ukip.org we are the only true none racist party who wants what is best for this country, by getting out of the EU and saving us £40 million a day and would still be able to import/export to other countries, the borders would be shut whilst the over crowding is sorted, people from outside this country who could bring something in doctors etc would be the ones let in, we would be on a simlar system to Australia.
So support UKIP and help us move forward, contact us now and a big thank you to all that voted UKIP in the recent EU elections.
