Lovely day at school

Having just returned from an open day commemorating 170 years since the opening of Halesowen Church of England School, I feel I must thank the staff and children for an afternoon filled with nostalgia.

Following a tour of the school which although it has changed notably since my years there 1953-1959, there were many memories of ‘how I used to be’.

From my first headmaster Mr Cooke to the lovely Mr Davies, it was amazing how the memories flooded back.

What a wonderful history this school has and how important it is that it should be preserved for many years to come.

I might also add, and I think I speak for all who attended today, how very impressed we were with the politeness of the children from the eldest who ushered us around and offered refreshments, to the nursery years, who without being prompted welcomed us to their school.

All in all I had a very happy time and hope that the school goes from strength to strength in the coming years.

Well done Halesowen C of E.

I Williams, Halesowen
