Better spent

I entirely agree with Gordon Carter, Romsley, this island monument will attract vandals and in my opinion distract motorists.

Has the council publicly announced how much this work of art will cost?

Residents of Grange Crescent were flooded out of their homes in 2007 and 2008 by the River Stour and residents of the Halesmore Estate were also flooded out of their homes in 2008 by Illey Brook.

Surely, instead of spending money on the Grange Island monument the money should be spent on flood prevention for the areas mentioned.

I'm in agreement here. The council says it remodelled the island to make things safer (though not many of the motorists who use it thing much has changed). So why stick a big sculpture on top. The last thing we need is something which DISTRACTS drivers when they're approaching. Is there no common sense...and wheres the council getting the money from...aren't they skint (again)?
