It was with utter disgust and shock that I read a letter from John Freeman - Director of Children's Services from Dudley MBC - stating the decision to close Halesowen C of E Primary School on August 31 2007.

The fait accomplis of Hasbury and Halesowen C of E Primary Schools merging was distressing enough but one which we had come to terms with and indeed were fully supporting.

To be lied to, cheated and certainly not consulted over this new decision beggars belief.

My life revolves around my children, whom have all attended the nursery and school . We have chosen to remain pupils at this school because I believe the care and education is second to none and cares for their spiritual, educational and emotional needs.

Having been promised a merger, a state-of-the-art building and new name while maintaining the same traditional Christian values, we were looking forward to the phoenix rising from the ashes.Instead we have been trampled on and buried.

How can they go back on the promises of a merger? Will they be able to look at 120 faces filled with tears and disbelief, they were supposed to be the ones we trusted, the good guy, the ones who put us first!

I would urge every past and present pupil, member of staff and member of our special community to make your voice heard and to let your views be known that we will do our utmost to insist that they keep their promise.
