Walled garden at heart of town

IFEEL sorry that Stourbridge College is leaving Shenstone’s walled garden and surrounds in the middle of Leasowes Park. I think that the park, the pupils, and the public have all benefited from the staff and the students’ presence.

As the area was gifted to Stourbridge College two decades ago, I think it is fair that the site should be gifted back to the people of Halesowen.

The historic landscape isnowbeginning to blossom.

The walled garden is at its heart and should be a real focus for this magnificent landscape in Halesowen.

This issue should now be addressed.

I couldn't agree more. I'd hate to se the hard work of all those students and staff go to waste, or see the place demolished.
Its such a shame that Stourbridge college governers have chosen to ignore the needs of the students and go for a 'new shiny' and probably more profitable option.
I studied there for a year and the special needs students and others presnt really enjoyed the time there. What better environment could you want for studying horticulture? I'd love to hear why the college felt the place was unsuitable.

I'd love to see this garden preserved, but Dudley council's much delayed "revamp" of Leasowes is a half hearted affair, compared with what other boroughs do (why no loos?); look at what happened to Saltwells Wood - left to rot, ranger hut and historic victorian house bulldozed; the previous adminstration had absolutely no interest in the Borough's history; let us hope that the new regime has a better policy, though DMBC silence on this matter is worrying.
