Don’t tar all horse owners with the same brush please

11:45am Thursday 4th September 2008

It is very rare that a letter in the “Your Views” section of the Halesowen News drags me to my computer to respond.

Memorial vandalised

12:36pm Thursday 4th September 2008

On August 21, the article on the front page of the Halesowen News was describing a remembrance garden to be placed on Bearmore playing field and refurbishing of Buck Tunnel at the cost of £80,000, funded partly by Sandwell Council.

EU directives to blame for post office closures

12:34pm Thursday 4th September 2008

Councillor Lesley Faulkener is right when she says the decision to close post office branches has already been made, sadly that includes Hasbury Post Office.

Greenkeeper still doing a great job

12:38pm Thursday 4th September 2008

I would like to give a big thank you to Ian LLoyd, greenkeeper of Huntingtree Park. Once again he has put a lot of work into the bowling green.

Shame if post office loses ‘David and Goliath’ battle

12:29pm Thursday 4th September 2008

Me and my husband have this week been informed the post office on Shell Corner is to be closed down in November 2008.

Recycling centre is an ‘absolute dump’

12:13pm Thursday 4th September 2008

I have written to your letters pages on several occasions in the past about the state of the recycling centre in the corner of the car park next to the main Sainsbury's car park in the centre of Blackheath. I wish I'd had my camera with me when I saw it today.

Big thanks to all sponsors

11:58am Thursday 4th September 2008

We would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who was kind enough to sponsor our son Matthew for his recent fundraiser for the Friends of Huntingtree Park.

Leisure centre not surplus to requirements but someone is!

11:50am Thursday 4th September 2008

Words cannot describe the complete and utter disappointment I feel towards Liz's Walker’s attitude towards the closure of Cradley Leisure Centre.

What about ‘no moaning’?

10:16am Thursday 28th August 2008

In response to Mrs T Andrews of Romsley. Yes all have the right to enjoy our village, even the children!

Support your local businesses

9:42am Thursday 28th August 2008

I couldn’t agree more with Mr Pyke (Your Views, July 31). The big supermarkets may be convenient for some but smaller shops offer far more.

We should be encouraging our young people not branding them

9:40am Thursday 28th August 2008

Having just read your article about the Children's Home in Corngreaves Road Cradley Heath I feel I need to make contact.

Bus service would help stranded rail passengers

9:27am Thursday 28th August 2008

A man killed by a train in Barnt Green station on Tuesday of this week caused problems at New Steet, for all trains were then cancelled.

Village roads can be lethal

10:06am Thursday 21st August 2008

After reading about Romsley's cats being mown down, it would now seem to be appropriate to again ask local police to look into the speeding situation they say we definitely do not have.

Sad to see land decimated for profit

9:59am Thursday 21st August 2008

St Modwen apply for outline planning permission so they can hold land until they get a suitable offer as they have done before elsewhere and it could be a housing estate and a lot more than 80 houses and who knows how many cars.

Let’s make our islands green

9:55am Thursday 21st August 2008

As we look forward with eager anticipation to the culmination of turning Halesowen into a place of excellence and bus depots, can it be that the council is going to surprise us all by providing a similar transformation of the Urban Jungle that is the traffic island at the foot of Hagley Road leading into the town centre.

Why pretend show was professional?

9:49am Thursday 21st August 2008

In response to Lynne Hemmings' letter it is quite obvious she has missed the point completely.

Go to Brum if you don’t like am-dram

9:45am Thursday 21st August 2008

After reading SJDP's, Halesowen (News, August 14th) response to Jo Carroll’s letter regarding this year’s Startime Summer show, I would question as to what need the person had to send this letter, in fact why bothering attending the show in the first place?

Is critic’s claim to fame moaning?

4:25pm Monday 18th August 2008

In response to SJDB (not brave enough to give their name)(News 14 Aug) who was responding to Jo Carroll (News Jul 31), I would like to ask how dare they pull apart a show that was as good as any, if not better than, most amateur productions, emphasis being on the word AMATEUR not professional.

Energy companies are showing us contempt

4:26pm Monday 18th August 2008

The energy prices that have been imposed upon the consumers have been the excuse for a whole range of commodity price increases – especially food.
