Further to your article on the state of Leasowes Park as featured in the Halesowen News, Thursday February 14.

I would just like to say that as a child I grew up in those woods and know them like the back of my hand and so although I was shocked at the waste of the best part of £1.8 million I was not surprised as I have witnessed the butchery of the site and the seemingly amaturish approach to its restoration taken over the years.

A couple of examples that spring to mind were a healthy silver birch that gracefully swept over the middle pool that was cut back to a stump and the waterfall that could have been repaired for a few hundred pounds that is now in such disrepair that it would cost thousands.

Plus I could have done the work myself originally for £50 on materials.

The spokesperson for Dudley Council who referred to the project as complex to qualify the cost so far is obviously as clueless as the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Leasowes park was the legacy of William Shenstone, however by the way that the current buffoons are managing the project all that will be left to remember his name by will be a boozer opposite the church yard which contains his now spinning remains.
