Parents should lead by example

In reply to Nick Britt's letter 'Kids behaviour is bad ad for school' it is unfair to hold the school responsible for the behaviour of its pupils once they have left school premises.

Whilst I totally agree it is a bad advertisement, the school has little or no powers once pupils are off the premises.

The problem lies closer to home. At my daughter's school they recently had a clampdown on pupils that were incorrectly dressed resulting in persistent offenders being punished.

I could not believe it when parents were going to the school to complain about this policy.

Rules are rules, they are there in black and white (had the parents taken the time to read them) when they chose the school for their children.

Maybe these are the same parents that park on pavements, zigzag yellow lines, zebra crossings or block driveways.

The message this sends to children is rules apply to others.

Come on parents lead by example and help the school, send your children to school dressed in accordance with school policy, pick them up and drop them off legally and safely.

Show them that you have respect for others and the laws of the land and they might follow suit.

By the way kids when you finish your education and go out into the big bad world there are very few jobs out there that do not require you to wear a uniform or at the very least dress smart and be courteous.
