Council repairs system is atrocious

The following issue to you may seem a little small but to me, well a big deal.

I'll start with, I am a Halesowen Council tenant living in Colley Gate area. During the windy weather last night I lost my letter box, I'm left with a lovely hole and view of the grass outside.

So, as you would, I called the council to see about getting a replacement. They asked me what kind of door I had to which I replied "wooden".

After a little humming and arring I was informed I would have to supply the replacement letter box myself because the council only supply letter boxes for the new plastic doors. I informed them that it was only the middle of last year they actually replaced my doors with the wooden type because of the four burglaries I'd had in the space of six months due to my previous doors not apparently deterring the thieves. Still that does not seem to matter.

My frustrating point is that why oh why should I pay my £71.20 per week rent just to be told that when something goes wrong with the property it wont get fixed, more to the point that it is MY responsibility to fix.

Halesowen Council are really on the downward slope. This letter box incident is just a long list of things that have been wrong over the period of my tenancy.

Not to mention a broken window that they replaced with a piece of perspex only for me to get broken in to again via that window. Then live with wooden boards for a few months after that.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has issues with the lack of response and helpfulness from Halesowen Council.
