A WORCESTERSHIRE beauty spot is set to appear in a prime time BBC drama.

Croome Park is set to feature in an forthcoming episode of Survivors which is currently being shown on Tuesday nights.

Filming took place in July when Croome Court, near Pershore, was transformed into the fictional Tredegar Hall which is believed to feature in episode four, due to be aired on 9 February.

Scenes were also shot in the stunning ‘Capability’ Brown designed landscape park, with National Trust staff and volunteers providing a helping hand to the 80-strong BBC crew.

The programme, which is now in its second season, follows the outbreak of a virus which kills all but a small number of people. It is a remake of a 1970s series of the same name and based on a novel by Terry Nation.

Croome Park operations manager Christian Walker said: “We were delighted to be chosen as a location for the series and look forward to seeing the estate portrayed in such a high profile way.

“A particular highlight for anyone visiting the park on the preparation days was the scene of antique furniture and historic old master paintings being unloaded and carried up the main steps. It certainly conjured up a future hopeful image that one day such items will be returned to Croome Court.

“The items were used to create a study and dining room on the first floor. Filming also took place in the Long Gallery, Billiard Room and Entrance Hall as well as in the Basement, where a wine cellar was created for a fight scene.”

A BBC spokeperson said: “Set in the present day, Survivors is a BBC drama series that focuses on the world in the aftermath of a devastating virus which wipes out most of the planet's population. Deprived of traditional 21st Century comforts - electricity; clean running water; advanced technology - the resilient group of survivors at the heart of the series face terrible and unexpected dangers.

"With no society, no police and no law and order, they now must struggle to find food and water under the ever present and deadly threat of other survivors.”

To see where it was all filmed, Croome Park is open at weekends until 14 February and then every day until 31 October. Croome Court is open at weekends until 31 January, and then Wednesdays to Mondays from 15 February until 31 October.
