Visitors to Worcestershire County Museum can enjoy a traditional May Day festival on Bank Holiday Monday.

Join the May Queen to watch the Green Man fight the Ice Queen and see if Summer can triumph over Winter.

Visitors can also have a go at Maypole dancing, watch 'Cast Off' Appalachian dance group, and listen to traditional harmony singers.

Children can get hands on with fun craft activities including mosaics and Green Man masks, have a go at juggling and archery, or get their face painted.

Visitors can also learn more about the birds, bees and other wildlife in Worcestershire and watch ferret racing with the Heart of England Ferret Association.

A selection of stalls will be selling gifts, crafts and vintage items and the Museum's new Café will be in operation selling a variety of hot and cold meals and delicious homemade cakes.

The Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust will also be opening the Bishop's Chapel to visitors for the day.

Pippa Ashmore, Museum Events Officer, said: “Museum staff are really looking forward to reviving this much-missed traditional event and we hope to see lots of visitors here joining in the fun and bringing the old customs back to life."

Admission to the event costs just £5 for adults, £2.50 for children/concessions and £13 for a family ticket (two adults and two children).
