WITH Glastonbury tickets rarer than a Gary Barlow tax return a brand new festival has been launched to cater for music fans who cannot get to the iconic Gloustershire farm.

Glastonbrummy is bringing the cream of tribute bands from across the world for two days to new Birmingham music venues Alfie Birds and The Oobleck.

On Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 the Custard Factory venues will be transformed into a mini-Glastonbury with stalls, street vendors, performers and activities including face painting.

Top of the bill is Australia's tribute to Daft Punk - Discovery and other big names on the bill include The Cloned Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Black Elvis, Kazabian, Atomic Blondie and all female Duran Duran tribute Joanne Joanne.

Glastonbrummy founder Maryam Snape is looking forward to the event.

She said: "Glastonbrummy is a new alternative music festival in Birmingham for people who either could not get a ticket for Glastonbury or could not afford the price.

"Birmingham doesn’t have anything like this and being in Digbeth I wanted to give it a bit of an alternative edge to it rather than just your average cheesy tribute bands."

She added: "The festival is held across two days in and around the site of new venues Alfie Birds and The Oobleck.

"There will be a real festival vibe with outside activities, face painting, street vendors and performers and so on." She added: "Many of these acts cost £15-£25 just for their own shows so £35 for a weekend ticket is an absolute bargain.

"We’re really happy with the quality and variety so far, although many more acts are still to be announced."
