Birmingham's Urban Music Gathering set to attract thousands this weekend

BIRMINGHAM is the centre of the urban music universe this weekend as thousands of fans are set to deluge the city.

The Custard Factory is hosting the giant Urban Music Gathering on Saturday night where over 40 DJs and 27 MCs will be plying their trade.

The cream of the country’s urban music stars and is expected to attract a crowd of over 4,000.

Dean Thomas, one of the founders of the UMG, said: “The Urban Music Gathering is the UK’s biggest Summer urban music city festival.

“Birmingham is such a hot bed for urban music and it is only right that the city hosts all the biggest stars in a safe and friendly environment.”

He added: “We have coach fulls of people coming from all over the place and it will be one hell of a party which will go on until 6am.

“It is going to have a real festival vibe with state of the art lazers, massive inlatables, costume dancers and lots more.”

The Digbeth venue will be split into four stages; the main stage will be a magnet for UK Garage, Funky House and Old School Jungle fans with a line up that includes Heartless Crew, Supa D, Cameo, Marc Ryder, Funky Flirt and MC Shabba.

On Stage Two it will be stritcly Drum and Bass with Bryan Gm Sly and Pacso, CKB and Devize amongst others providing the music and Bassman, Triggam Nutcracker, Biggie and General C on the mike.

On Stage 3, The Open Air Terrace, The Masters of Bassline are presenting EJ, Apostle, Burger Boy, Bass Boy, Slick Don and many more.

Then on Stage 4, The Pod, it is Bashment, R&B and Hip Hop hosted by Simply Soul, Street Cred and Swagger Fridays. Artists include One Step, X-TA-C 4x4 and Ricky Tru amongst others will be providing the music.
