STEVEN Pearce has been drawn against Glenn Foot in the quarter-finals of Prizefighter.
The two unbeaten welterweight’s will meet later tonight at Wolverhampton Civic Hall as the eight man, three-rounds-a-fight, one night tournament makes its second appearance in the West Midlands.
With six professional wins, Stourbridge’s Pearce has one fewer than Sunderland’s Foot, who also has four stoppages on his record.
Stourbridge’s Sam Eggington will make history by becoming the youngest ever competitor in the tournament and faces an intriguing quarter-final clash with Welshman Dale Evans.
The pair share a common opponent on their records in Leon Findlay. But while Evans could only draw against his fellow countryman, 19-year-old Eggington won a 39-37 points decision against Findlay on his professional debut back in September.
The show, which will be screened live on Sky Sports, kicks off with a meeting between bookies’ favourite Mark Thompson and Rob Hunt, while the other quarter final sees Chad Gaynor take on Birmingham’s Calum Cooper.
Fighters are battling it out for the coveted Prizefighter trophy and a £32,000 cash prize.
Prizefighter Welterweights III quarter final draw:
Mark Thompson v Rob Hunt
Sam Eggington v Dale Evans
Chad Gaynor v Calum Cooper
