A PAIR of Himley sailors have been awarded for a lifetime of dedication to the sport.
David and Mary Harris were handed the 2012 Old Putney Maritime Award for their three decades of work at Himley Hall Sailing Club.
The prize included a glass trophy, two bottles of malt whisky and a cheque for £1,000. They have donated the cash to the club’s fund for extra training facilities.
The couple played a key role in setting up the club’s training section 30 years ago and have helped provide quality safety and training to new and developing sailors, while taking on a range of management roles.
Club publicity officer Phil Speed said: “Their lifetime of sterling work is continuing with David and Mary still active in key roles, enabling a vibrant club.
“Everyone at the club would like to thank them for the massive contribution they have made.”
