ATHLETES from Dudley Kingswinford Running Club tested themselves on the biggest stage of all by taking part in Sunday’s London Marathon.

While the spectators enjoyed the sun and warm weather, packing the streets making for a wonderful atmosphere, many runners wilted in the heat.

First back for the blue hoops was Dave Norman in 3.12.19, from Lorna Hulme in 3.21.24, Matt Biggs in 3.23.26, Graham Wildgoose in 3.23.51, Mark Homer in 3.26.10, Simon Hughes in 3.26.24, Mark Judge in 3.35.06, Andy Litchfield in 3.43.23, Liz Hettle in 4.16.03, Karen Doy in 4.18.02, Dave Garbutt in 4.26.09, Janetta Sanders in 4.48.10, Natalie Litchfield in 4.51.15, Helen Williamson in 4.53.09, Sam Hemming in 5.23.55 and Laura Evenson in 5.34.51.

Elsewhere on a big weekend for marathons, club chairman Mick Quane completed the Rotterdam Marathon in 3.31.58 with Catherine Quane finishing inside her four hour target in 3.57.08.

Earlier in the month - on April 6 - a team of DK runners successfully completed the Greater Manchester Marathon.

Richard Tonks finished in 3.58.53, Phil Morris in 5.50.50, Alison Whitehouse in 4.19.47, Marie Latreche in 3.54.57, Helen Davies in 3.56.38, Stephen Wood in 3.33.52, Mark Gatenby in 3.29.42 and Chandrika Patel in 5.51.17.
