CUP glory would be the perfect start to Himley's revival, says skipper Greg Wright.

Himley defeated Wolverhampton by seven wickets in the semi-final of the Staffordshire County Cup last Sunday.

They will now face Leek in the final at Stourbridge Road this Sunday (noon start).

After the club's relegation from the Birmingham and District Premier League this season, Wright thinks claiming the silverware will help the club's plans to move forwards.

He said: "It would be a great way to start our revival. Winning cups are important for the club's history and it would bring a much needed boost after a difficult season."

Himley's league campaign continued in disappointing fashion last Saturday as they lost to Barnt Green. They will now complete their fixtures when they take on Walsall away this Saturday.

However, against Wolverhampton, Himley performed well to bag a final place.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Wolverhampton were reduced to 9-3 after Nathan Round removed Ramanjot Jaswal for 5 and Jamie Turner took the wickets of fellow opener Saif Bhojani (3) and number three Karl Quiney (0).

Round was at it again soon after when he bowled James Hammond for 3 to leave the visitors on 18-4.

Number seven Ben Twohig (42) and Adam Quiney (33), batting at number eight, helped Wolverhampton recover slightly to finish all out for a total of 126.

A solid showing from Himley's top order guided them to their total.

Nathan Round (27), Jamie Harris (24) and Mike Jones (36) all got starts before Sergio Fedee (37 not out) completed the home side's chase in the 30th over.

"It was a great performance from the lads against Wolverhampton," added Wright. "We were missing a few players but the lads got us home.

"At the start of the season I said we wanted to try and win some silverware. I didn't imagine being relegated at the time but all we can do now is put that behind us and focus on the final."
