Matlock 0-4 Halesowen Town

JOHN Hill celebrated his 100th game in charge with a thumping victory over Matlock, and to finally get the Yeltz's goal tally up into double figures, writes Reece Chalton.

Halesowen opened the scoring on 20 minutes, as Chris Lait's corner ball flew into the box and Joe Hull touched the ball down before hitting a rolling shot that somehow eventually found its way into the net.

Matlock nearly got back into the game almost immediately, as confusion in the Yeltz penalty area ended with Adam Yates heading the ball just past the right hand post.

Ben Haseley finally ended his goal drought in the league, as he latched on to Iyseden Christie's pass and he comfortably tucked the ball into the net to double The Yeltz's lead on 28 minutes.

Halesowen put the game out of Matlock's reach on 50 minutes, as Robert Thompson-Brown picked up the ball up from 25 yards before smashing a rocket of a shot past a stunned Matlock defence and into the top left corner of the net.

Matlock fought Halesowen's defence but the persistent of the Yeltz's back four was too much for Matlock, and tr strike force was proving to be a nightmare for Matlock's defence, as they gave away a penalty on 84 minutes. Lait stood up to take it, and he comfortably slotted it into the left side of the net.

The game drew to an end, and with John Hill's record after 100 games being the 2nd best in Halesowen's history, let's hope he can make it even better in the next 100.
