TONY Gore wants Dudley Sports to add defensive grit to their attacking flair.

Sports lost 4-3 away to table-toppers Bridgnorth last Saturday to end a three game winning run.

Gore was left ruing his side's defensive frailties and poor refereeing decisions despite the encouraging away performance.

He said: "We gifted them all of their goals. It is an area we need to look to improve as a team.

"We would become very strong if we could improve our defensive play to add to our attacking threat.

"We were also a little aggrieved by the performance of the officials," he added. "I thought we should have had a clear-cut penalty at the end of the first half, which would have resulted in their player being sent off. The ref also failed to add on the correct amount of time at the end when we were pushing forward for an equaliser.

"It was frustrating but the main thing is that we can't go to the league leaders and concede four goals and expect to get something from the game.

"Overall, it is still very encouraging to be in the game against a team that has been beating teams well this season. It shows how far we have come and how we can still get better."

Sports were set to face local rivals Gornal Athletic away last night and will welcome Bewdley to Hillcrest Avenue this Saturday.
