HALESOWEN sent Blyth away empty-handed as two second half goals saw the Yeltz progress to the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy, writes Recce Chalton

Ben Haseley had a chance early on for the Yeltz, as he was gifted the ball by the Blyth defence, but he could put the ball over the bar.

Aaron Griffiths caused havoc on the right wing all night, and he even started to create some chances for himself, as he cut into the outside of the penalty box and hit a finesse shot that flew into the keeper’s hands.

Ben Haseley nearly bagged his 101st goal for the club on the 30 minute mark, as he broke through the Spartans defence and then took the ball around the Blyth keeper, who somehow managed to get back to his goal-line and make a brilliant save.

Halesowen came inches away from scoring, as Iyseden Christie’s shot was saved and Chris Lait’s rebounded effort was somehow cleared off the line by Danny Parker. The Yeltz kept pressing, as Danny Bragoli’s effort was saved yet again by Blyth keeper Peter Jeffries.

The Yeltz kept searching for that crucial goal, as early on into the second half, Joe Hull managed to beat his marker in the air and headed the ball towards goal, which hit the top of the bar and bounced out of play.

The deadlock was finally broken on 74 minutes, as Robert Thompson-Brown hit a low cross into the box, and Haseley was there to poke the ball into the net and to the give the Yeltz a well deserved lead.

Halesowen doubled their lead on 80 minutes, as the corner ball flew into the box, and once again Joe Hull beat his marker and this time headed the ball with precision into the back of the net.
