THE second West Midlands Cross Country League meeting saw 21 Dudley and Stourbridge Harriers (DASH) athletes taking part in the action at Wolverhampton.

Highest placed DASH runner on the day was Reece Ashfield, who really improved in the under 15 boys race for 13th place with Jay Priantoro in 36th.

Tom Slater put in another good performance in the under 13 boys race for15th as Harry Walters moved up 30 places on the first race for 40th, with Alex Hurrell 43rd and Adam Bodin 54th completing the team.

Grace Slater and Elliot Jones both suffered a bit from having run the previous day for West Mid Schools, but still ran well as Grace was 37th from 170 plus runners in the under 13 girls race and Elliot 15th in the under 17 men's. Not to be outdone in the under 11 girls race, Emmie Corbett ran well for 26th. Zara Gibbs 67th and Alice Rumble 78th.

Meanwhile, it was quiet week for athletes from Dudley Kingswinford Running Club.

With only a handful of races taking place, it was a chance to concentrate on training rather than pin a number to the vest for most club members

However, a couple of club members didn’t have to travel far to shave a chunk off their best times.

Paul Baker finished in 103rd place in a personal best time of 1.41.34 and Dave Ede also recorded a PB of 1.49.19 in 136th place in the Autumn Shakespeare Half Marathon in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
